How many hours did Adin Ross contribute to Kick?

Kick launched the application on mobile at the end of March 2023. In February, it had 13.3 million hours and the platform has grown rapidly in April with 51.8 million hours watched by viewers. Ross played a major role in increasing the hours, he accounted for 12 per cent of hours in April. There was an increase in the number of active channels in April with more than 66,900 whereas, in February, only 20,600 channels went live, according to VentureBeat.

Kick’s viewership distribution

When comparing Kick to Twitch, there is a noticeable contrast in the types of content and distribution of viewership. Kick is often positioned as a platform where a wide range of content is welcomed and encouraged during live streaming. This distinction is evident in its prominent categories. While both platforms feature Just Chatting as the most popular category, Kick's second largest category is Slots & Casinos, showcasing its openness to gambling-related content. Additionally, Pools, Hot Tubs, and Bikinis rank as the fourth most-watched category on Kick, indicating that non-gaming content holds significant viewership. It is worth noting that only half of Kick's top categories revolve around video games.

It is important to mention that Kick is supported by Stake.com, a gambling website, which had sponsored many Twitch streamers in the past until Twitch implemented a ban on gambling-related content. In April, Slots & Casinos accounted for more than a quarter of the total hours watched on Kick, although it did not represent the majority of viewership. As Kick showcased the rapid growth, the CEO and co-founder of StreamElements claimed, “It takes time to determine if a new platform will have long-term success since there eventually needs to be an audience for the middle class of streamers and not just the stars. Kick’s current beta is showing impressive momentum in terms of channel and viewer growth.”
