LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears is 'relieved' that she can finally stop paying child support to her ex-husband Kevin Federline for her eldest son Sean.

A source close to the singer told Daily Mail that Britney is "relieved" that her eldest son, Sean, will turn 18 on September 14. It means that she will stop paying child support for him.

Who will receive child support money now?

The child support money will now go to Spears' children. "Britney is happy to help Sean and Jayden. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for her sons," the source added.

"But this would go directly to them after they turn 18 instead of Kevin," the source said.

The source added that Britney’s friends believe "it’s time for Kevin to get a job" and stop relying on her income.

Kevin, who married Britney in 2004 and divorced her in 2007, has six children - two with Britney, two with his current wife Victoria Prince, and two with his ex-wife Shar Jackson.

Since how long has Britney Spears been paying child support?

Kevin, as per the report, has been receiving $20,000 a month from Britney for Sean and Jayden since 2008.

At the time, she suffered a mental breakdown and was placed under a conservatorship by her father Jamie Spears.

In 2018, Kevin requested an increase in child support to $60,000 a month, claiming that Britney’s income had risen significantly since their divorce.

The case was sealed and the final amount was not disclosed, but court documents revealed that Britney paid an extra $15,000 a month for school and extracurricular activities for the boys, bringing the total payments to $35,000 a month.

That means, for the past 15 years, Britney has been paying a minimum of $420,000 a year to Kevin.

When did Britney's children move to Hawaii?

Kevin also moved his entire family to Hawaii earlier this year. Reports suggest that in early August, his wife apparently secured a teaching position at the University of Hawaii.

Some speculated that this was done to take advantage of Hawaii’s child support laws which allow a parent to collect child support until the child turns 23 if they are enrolled in college or vocational school.

However, according to the revised statute 576B-611 (2016), if child support was established in another state then the state in which it was established has exclusive jurisdiction.

This means that Britney’s child support payments for Sean will end on September 14 in accordance with the California law, the Daily Mail reported.

For how long will Britney have to pay child support for Jayden?

Britney will still have to pay child support for Jayden until he turns 18 on September 12, 2024.

Kevin did not receive any spousal support from Britney due to their prenuptial agreement.

Britney’s net worth in 2018 was estimated at $56,562,912.38. She paid her father $128,000 a year to act as her conservator and she spent $384,126.38 on other expenses.
