Crash Bandicoot team post moving tribute to 'incredible man' who voiced the character
Brendan O'Brien, who provided a number of the original voices on the Crash Bandicoot games, has died at the age of 60. O’Brien was a voice actor who worked on the classic franchise in the 1990s. He was responsible for voicing the characters of Crash Bandicoot, N.Gin, Dr Neo Cortex, Dr Nitrus Brio, and Tiny Tiger. He was involved in all three of the first three games before Scott Whyte took over as the voice of Crash from the release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter A post on Legacy.com shared by the official Crash Bandicoot Twitter account stated that O’Brien died on 23 March, although a cause of death has yet to be confirmed. The post reads: "Sharing our sincere condolences to Brendan O’Brien’s loved ones for his passing," their tweet read. "He was an incredible talent who brought Crash Bandicoot and other Crash characters to life. He will forever live on in the hearts of Crash fans." A tribute to O’Brien’s time working on the gaming franchise reads: “One of his proudest moments was coming up with the original voices for the Crash Bandicoot video games during the Naughty Dog years of 1996 to 2004. "He encouraged nostalgic Crash fans in their own pursuits and loved signing their memorabilia. Like music, designing character voices for animation, radio and video games came naturally to him.” The first Crash Bandicoot game was released in 1996 and would go on to be remembered as one of the quintessential games of the time. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back came in 1997 and Crash Bandicoot: Warped was released in 1998. Have your say in our news democracy. Madame Web line about 'researching spiders in the Amazon' has already become a meme
It’s not even been released yet, but the fallout from the Madame Web trailer just goes to show that nothing is ever safe from internet meme culture. The clip from the upcoming Sony superhero movie gives fans a flavour of Dakota Johnson’s debut as she plays character Cassandra Webb for the first time. There’s a lot to take in, with a host of new stars and exciting stunts showcased in the clip, but one particular line of dialogue has made the biggest impression so far. And what’s the line? Well, it’s a line about a mysterious male character familiar to Johnson’s character. “He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died.” Admittedly, it’s delivered in a slightly stunted way, and fans have really cottoned onto it in the hours since the trailer was released. Pretty soon, the internet was having a field day with the whole thing. Fans will have to wait until the film is released on February 16 until they can find any more meme-worthy lines of dialogue. Bad Bunny slams 'sh***y' new TikTok AI song that replicates his voice
Bad Bunny has heard a song that's gone viral on TikTok which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to copy his voice, and the rapper isn't too happy about it. The Puerto Rican artist took to his WhatsApp channel to berate fans who have listened to the track which also uses AI vocals from Justin Bieber and Daddy Yankee. 'If you like that s***ty song that's viral on TikTok, get out of this group right now,' Bad Bunny wrote in Spanish, as per Daily Mail. 'I don't want them on the tour either.' In the post to his 19m followers, he added: 'You don't deserve to be my friends and that's why I made the new album, to get rid of people like that. So choo-choo out.' FlowGPT (Justin Bieber, Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee type) - DEMO 5: nostalgIA (Spanglish Version) www.youtube.com The AI song called 'nostalgIA' was created by FlowGPT, an AI tool that functions similarly to ChatGPT and the track was uploaded under the username flowgptmusic. Bad Bunny - whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio - isn't the first musician to criticise AI replicating their voices on songs. Earlier this year, a song that used AI vocals of Drake and The Weeknd called 'Heart On My Sleeve,' was written and produced by TikTok user ghostwriter977. The track was later removed from Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer. “This is the final straw AI," Drake said in response to an AI-generated cover of him rapping 'Munch' by Ice Spice.
