Heidi Klum steals Halloween once more with costume involving 10 Cirque du Soleil performers
Heidi Klum has unveiled her 2023 Halloween costume at her annual New York party - and she's totally stolen the show, as usual. Off the back of last year's worm look, the model this year opted for something big and bold, that involved 10 Cirque du Soleil to bring it to life on the red carpet. Klum dressed as the head and neck of a peacock, while those with her represented each of its feathers, creating an incredible illusion. We didn't expect any less. Influencer Morgan Osman becomes the new Tiffany Gomas with 'Instagram famous' plane rant
An influencer has been publicly shamed for boasting about her dubious celebrity status during a furious rant. Morgan Osman, 35, from Miami Florida, was filmed in the midst of a heated exchange with fellow passengers on board an American Airlines flight when she touted her “star” credentials. The video shows Osman pulling a suitcase from an overhead locker as she tells a man off-camera “Call me a b***h again.” “I did nothing wrong,” she then argues before telling the man and “[his] b***h” to “shut the f**k up”. Walking down the aisle, she spots the flyer who’s recording her and fumes sarcastically: “Film me, I’m Instagram famous, you f**king bum.” Her behaviour was met with mocking laughs from onlookers and ridicule on social media after the video was uploaded to Reddit and Twitter/X. Viewers were quick to point out that they’d never heard of the fashionista who has some 967,000 Insta followers. However, at the time of writing, her account on the platform was “no longer available”. “Lmfao at Instagram famous,” one Twitter/X user wrote. “I’m going to start telling people I’m Monopoly rich.” “What’s great about this new plane lady discourse is that she says ‘STFU, I’m Instagram famous” while in Economy,” another pointed out. “Instagram isn’t Real Life. Oops.” The 35-year-old is perhaps best known for appearing on season 5 of the US reality TV show The Bad Girls Club. But, according to one fan site, she was swiftly booted off early on in the series for breaking into the producer’s room. She also caused a stir for claiming to have secretly dated Britney Spears’s now-ex-husband Sam Asghari shortly after they began their relationship in 2017. Osman shared and quickly deleted a photo showing her locking lips with a man who resembled Asghari and said he was “using Britney”, the New York Post reports. It’s not clear what prompted her viral plane altercation but it’s not the first time an American Airlines passenger has made headlines for jaw-dropping behaviour. A woman who was later identified as Tiffany Gomas shot to internet notoriety for a bizarre outburst in which she uttered the now immortal words “that motherf**ker is not real.” The 38-year-old marketing executive subsequently addressed her actions in a video statement, admitting that they were “completely unacceptable”. However, she has also urged viewers to appreciate that “we all have our bad moments” and has since rebranded herself as a motivational mental health guru. We’re all now waiting to see how Osman will respond now that she really is Instagram – and internet famous. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Miley Cyrus reveals meaning behind infamous 2008 Vanity Fair cover
Miley Cyrus has been taking a trip down memory lane with her "Used To Be Young," TikTok series inspired by her new song with the same title, and in the latest clip, she spoke about *that* controversial 2008 Vanity Fair cover. Fifteen years on, the 30-year-old singer reflected on the cover she posed for as a 15-year-old at the time which saw her draped in a sheet and wearing red lipstick. "Everybody knows the controversy of the photo, but they don't really know the behind-the-scenes, which is always much more meaningful," Cyrus explained. The photos were shot by photographer Annie Leibovitz who also took snaps of Cyrus with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus as she recalled her family being on set with her during the shoot. "My little sister Noah [Cyrus] was sitting on Annie's lap and actually pushing the button of the camera taking the pictures. My family was on set and this was the first time I ever wore red lipstick." "Pati Dubroff, who did my makeup, thought that that would be another element that would divide me from Hannah Montana." "This image of me is a complete opposite of the bubble gum pop star that I had been known for being...and that's what was so upsetting. But, really, really brilliant choices looking back now from those people." In the interview, Cyrus was asked if she or Disney were nervous about the photo, to which she replied: "No, I mean I had a big blanket on. And I thought, This looks pretty, and really natural. I think it's really artsy." However, there was backlash upon the publication of the cover which led to Disney making a statement on the matter. "Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines," it said. Meanwhile, Cyrus also issued a statement in response where she apologised to her fans for the cover too. “I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic,’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed,” she said at the time. “I never intended for any of this to happen, and I apologise to my fans, who I care so deeply about.” A decade on from this, Cyrus took back her initial apology by posting a 2008 cover of the New York Post that featured her with the headline: "Miley's Shame. Here's wholesome Hannah Montana as you never expected to see her." Cyrus wrote in the 2018 tweet: “I’M NOT SORRY…F*** YOU #10yearsago" It's not the first time, Cyrus has reflected on this particular moment in her career as she spoke to British Vogue back in June this year about how the experience affected her. “I carried some guilt and shame around myself for years because of how much controversy and upset I really caused,” she said. "Now that I’m an adult, I realise how harshly I was judged,” she added. “I was harshly judged as a child by adults and now, as an adult, I realise that I would never harshly judge a child.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Bella Hadid breaks silence on Israel-Hamas conflict
Bella Hadid has issued a heartbreaking statement online amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, saying that Palestine "cannot afford our silence". The 27-year-old model asked her 60.5 million followers to "forgive" her for her silence, after receiving "hundreds of death threats daily" when her phone number was leaked, leaving her family feeling in danger. "I can not be silenced any longer," she wrote. "Fear is not an option. The people and children of Palestine, especially in Gaza, cannot afford our silence. We are not brave - they are." Speaking about the aftermath of the airstrikes in Gaza, Hadid said her "heart is bleeding with pain from the trauma I am seeing unfold, as well as the generational trauma of my Palestinian blood." The model, of Dutch and Palestinian descent, continued: "I mourn with all the mothers who have lost children and the children who cry alone, all the lost fathers, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunties, friends that will never again walk this earth." She went on to highlight her own family's history, with her father and grandparents being "expelled" from their homes in Palestine just nine days after his birth. This happened the same year as the Nakba in 1948, which saw over 700,000 Palestinian Arabs flee and be expelled from their homes. Before the Nakba, the UN noted that Palestine was a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural society. The result of the war forced more than half of the Palestinian population to be displaced. The UN General Assembly called for refugee "return, property restitution and compensation," however 75 years later, despite countless UN resolutions, "the rights of the Palestinians continue to be denied." In the Instagram post, Hadid candidly shared: "My family witnessed 75 years of violence against Palestinian people - most notably, brutal settler invasions which led to the destruction of entire communities, murder in cold blood and the forcible removal of families from their homes. The practice of settlements on Palestinian land still continues to this day. The pain of that is unimaginable." Ultimately, Hadid called for "humanity and compassion" and for people to "keep pressure on our leaders, wherever we are." "I stand with humanity, knowing that peace and safety belong to us all," she concluded. Thousands flocked to the post to praise the model for using her platform to raise awareness, with her mother Yolanda Hadid writing: "Brave, honest and from the heart, I love you." Another wrote: "I love you. You said it so perfectly. Free our people." A third added: "One of the first major celebs to speak out against Genocide. You will be remembered in history, thank you."
