Bad Bunny addresses the phone throwing controversy on new album
Bad Bunny has referenced the time he threw away a fan’s phone on his new album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va A Pasar Mañana. In the opening track 'NADIE SABE' from the album released on Friday (October 13), there is a particular lyric that fans have been pointing out which appears to relate to the incident. "Tú no ere' mi fan real, por eso te tiré el celular," which translates to in English: “You are not my real fan, that's why I threw the cellphone.” In January this year, a video circulated on social media of the 28-year-old rapper who could be seen walking with a group of friends in the Dominican Republic. He was approached by female fan with her phone and she then started taking a selfie mode video. Moments later, Bad Bunny grabbed the phone and tossed it away to his left. As the clip made rounds online, it sparked a debate about whether Bad Bunny was in the wrong or if fans do not give celebrities personal space. Bad Bunny did release a statement, defending his actions at the time. He said: "The person who comes up to me to say hello, to tell me something, or just to meet me, will always receive my attention and respect. "Those who come to put a phone in my face, I will consider it for what it is, a lack of respect and I will treat it like one." In June, the “Me Porto Bonito” rapper addressed the situation in an interview with Rolling Stone where he gave extra details on what occurred. “Bro, that cellphone didn’t break. It exists. It bothers me that people haven’t said that. I didn’t throw that phone into the water. I threw it into some bushes," he said. Elsewhere, Bad Bunny was hailed as doing 'God's work' after sharing 'bush' photo. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. No, "Mr Blue Sky" singer Jeff Lynne does not have an account on Bluesky
With Elon Musk’s Twitter suffering yet another catastrophic outage (which has seen the Tesla and SpaceX founder implement temporary limits on how many tweets we can view in a day), users are once again looking for a rival platform to evacuate to. Previously it was the likes of Post and Mastodon - the latter of which Musk hated so much he restricted users from linking to their new accounts on Twitter - but now it’s the turn of Bluesky to get all the hype. Backed by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, the platform claims to offer “an open and decentralised standard for social media” – “decentralised” meaning users don’t have an account under one ‘centralised’ company owned by one particular company, but can instead sign up to individual servers and communities owned and managed by other people. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter It's already proven popular, with surreal social media poster Dril and New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez already signed up. In fact, after Twitter’s latest blunder, invite codes to Bluesky became so lucrative and sign-ups became so intense that they had to temporarily pause new registrations (they’ve reopened them now, though, if you fancy a try). And while others are considering whether to jump ship to the rival site, or desperately hunting for the code which will let them in, some Twitter users were reminded of a legendary rock band thanks to the platform’s choice of name: Yep, for a handful of individuals, the hit track from Jeff Lynne and his Electric Light Orchestra (or ELO) came to mind – and it’s perhaps made all the more amusing considering one of “Mr Blue Sky’s” lyrics is the rhetorical question, “where did we go wrong”. If Musk were to ask that question, we’d probably say firing almost half of Twitter’s workforce and therefore making it almost impossible to deal with the demand is part of the problem. And if you were wondering, a few searches on Bluesky appear to suggest that neither Lynne or ELO are on the platform. Indy100 has approached Lynne’s representatives for a statement, but they said the musician was unavailable for comment. Have your say in our news democracy. Goldie Hawn reveals that she met 'aliens' in her 20s who 'touched her face'
Goldie Hawn has claimed that she had a truly unique experience when she was in her 20s, having supposedly been ‘touched on the face’ by aliens. The actress has long been a believer in UFOs and she spoke about them in a new interview with the Apple Fitness+ audio feature Time to Walk. Hawn claims the incident took place when she was working as a dancer when she was in her early 20s in California. “That was a time when, you know, there was a lot of UFO sightings," she said. "I remember this so clearly: I went outside my door, and I sat on the little ledge, and I looked up at the dark sky. And I saw all these stars. And all I could think of was, 'How far does this go? How little are we? Are we the only planet in the whole wide universe that has life on it?'" Hawn then recounted how she called out to any UFOs that were listening, saying: "I know you're out there, I know we're not alone, and I would like to meet you one day." Four months later, according to Hawn, she was working at another job in California when she took a nap in a friend’s car. There she heard a “high-pitched sound in my ear” and saw three "triangular-shaped heads”. She said: "They were silver in color, slash for a mouth, tiny little nose, no ears. They were pointing at me, pointing at me in the car as if they were discussing me like I was a subject. And they were droning.” The actress then said they "touched me, and it felt like the finger of God. It was the most benevolent, loving feeling. This was powerful. It was filled with light”. Reflecting on the experience, she said: "We can never ever lose our wonder. It's just no fun. It's really an important aspect of being an adventurer, where nothing is impossible." Gwyneth Paltrow's Airbnb offer has become an instant meme
Gwyneth Paltrow has invited people to stay in her guesthouse and have dinner with her and people are finding it hilarious. Posting on Instagram in a paid partnership with Airbnb, the actress walked through the guesthouse and showed off all the rooms with a fireplace, bar, pretty nice bedroom and a bathroom complete with Goop products. "Your skin is going to be better when you leave than when you came," she said as she walked through the bathroom. "We can have a fantastic cosy dinner," she added when she showed off the dining room. The caption to the video read: "Loneliness is a human condition, but in the past few years, increased isolation and our lack of community has made our lives even more fragmented. "@airbnb had the brilliant idea of doing something to make the world a little less lonely, which is why I'm inviting you to come stay at my Montecito guesthouse for a night. "While we may begin as strangers, I hope we'll find connections and commonalities over a delicious meal. "Lay by the pool, go on one of my favourite hikes and of course you'll have a bathroom stocked with my favourite @goop products for a truly luxuriating stay." She added: "Hope to host you soon." The "Goop-inspired stay with Gwyneth Paltrow" for two also features a dinner with the star and her husband, Brad Falchuk, and guests can have whatever wine they want from her well-stocked collection. People thought the concept was one part hilarious and two parts iconic: The booking for two guests opens on 15 August and the one-night stay will take place on 9 September.
