Is Whoopi Goldberg on Threads? 'The View' host takes a jab at Twitter as rival app surpasses 100M users

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: At this point, everyone is a part of the Meta conversation, and yes, we are talking about ‘Twitter’ versus ‘Threads.’ Mark Zuckerburg’s recent app launch had several people migrating from Twitter to Threads, and it was only a matter of time before the co-hosts on ‘The View’ would discuss it too. This truly is a Hot Topic, and as ‘The View’ returns, so does this discussion, where the audience finally learns a little bit more about Whoopi Goldberg’s social media presence.

Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Joy Behar are all active on Twitter, some more active than others. However, Goldberg left Twitter in 2022, along with several other celebrities. Now, she is on the latest and possibly most popular app, Threads, and discusses more about it on the latest segment of ‘The View.’

Whoopi Goldberg moves to Threads

It was no secret that Goldberg was among the several celebrities who left Twitter in 2022 when the platform went through a purge of sorts. However, this time around, she is a little more candid about her experience with Threads and Twitter. As Goldberg talked about Threads on ‘The View,’ she said, “There’s a new threat to Twitter, it’s called Threads, and Mark Zuckerberg launched it on Wednesday, and a hundred million people signed up, including me.” Goldberg throws the topic to her co-hosts, who dive into it immediately, discussing their experience on Threads so far.

'I did not want to be tricked anymore'

Once everyone is done with their piece, Goldberg took the stage once again, “For me, I went on to Threads because I just thought…listen…there are times when I want to tell folks what’s going on and it’s great, and because I don’t necessarily read their responses to me, I’ve had a better time.”

She then spoke about her experience with Twitter, “I got off Twitter because I did not want to be tricked anymore. You tell me, oh this okay and I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing, now you tell me I gotta pay you. See, I don’t want to do that. I will do it if you tell me and I make that decision but you can’t do it mid-stroke, you can’t. So, I got off, and now I’m on threads and I kinda like it.”

Even though ‘The View’ starts playing the music for a commercial break, Goldberg finished her thoughts, “I think if people wanna say some nice stuff, threads might be a good place…until it is not.”

At the time of writing, there are currently 100 million sign-ups for the Twitter rival.
