'Much better without her': Amy Schumer trolled after she passes up lead role for Margot Robbie's 'Barbie'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Famous stand-up comedian Amy Schumer was supposed to act in the movie "Barbie" which is scheduled to be released this year. The former contestant of the NBC reality competition series Last Comic Standing said that long before Margot Robbie got the role, she was apparently in talks to star in the movie back in 2016 when Sony Pictures had the rights to the film. The 42-year-old even agreed to take part in the film that was based on an original idea, with Hilary Winston penning the screenplay but ultimately she had to drop out of the project less than a year later.

'I'm no longer able to commit to Barbie'

“Sadly, I’m no longer able to commit to 'Barbie' due to scheduling conflicts,” the actress said according to Variety. “The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I’m bummed, but look forward to seeing 'Barbie' on the big screen,” she added. However, it was later revealed that the “scheduling conflicts” reason was not completely true. Schumer admitted that it was “creative differences” during a new interview on “Watch What Happens Live,” which eventually made her leave the “Barbie” movie.

“I can’t wait to see the [Margot Robbie] movie, it looks awesome,” Schumer said. She added, “I think we said it was scheduling conflicts, that’s what we said. But yeah, it really was just creative differences. But you know, there’s a new team behind it, and it looks like it’s very feminist and cool so I will be seeing the movie.”

The movie didn't 'feel feminist and cool'

When host Andy Cohen asked if Schumer’s script for 'Barbie' didn’t “feel feminist and cool,” she replied, "Yeah! Yeah.” Last year, Schumer told The Hollywood Reporter, that Sony “definitely didn’t want to do it the way I wanted to do it, the only way I was interested in doing it.” She said that she should been aware of the fact that the project wasn’t for her when the studio presented her with a pair of Manolo Blahnik shoes to celebrate her casting.

'Margot is perfect for the role'

Twitter users also expressed their opinions on this matter. One user tweeted, "And this film is SO much better for it." Another wrote, "Who on God's blue earth wants to see Amy in a Barbie movie anyways?" One user echoed, "Glad she did, much better without her in it, she's past her prime already and not interesting at all" while another wrote, "Glad she did Margot is perfect for the role." "Thank you so much for your selfless sacrifice", wrote another user.
