LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Pat Sajak, the longtime host of the popular game show ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ known for his engaging and playful banter with contestants and audience recently announced his retirement from the show in a Twitter post. The sudden announcement came on June 12 which left his fans disheartened. However, ‘Jeopardy!’ champ James Holzhauer decided to poke fun at the host.

On Monday, June 2, ‘Wheel of Fortune’s charismatic and beloved figure, Pat Sajak revealed that he will retire from the gameshow after 40 years. He has been on the gameshow since 1981 and now the time has come for Pat to step down from his duties. Although he hasn’t revealed the real reason behind his retirement, he hinted to the fans early in 2019 stating that “he’s not getting any younger.” However, it seems ‘Jeopardy! Masters’ winner James Holzhauer considers such decisions frivolous. After Sajak announced his retirement, James tweeted a meme trolling the veteran host.

Pat Sajak announces retirement

In a recent post, ‘Wheel of Fortune’ host Pat Sajak left his fans' heartbroken with an unexpected announcement. He revealed that he will retire from the gameshow at the end of next season. The 76-year-old humorous entertainer shared the news on Twitter, “Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months." Pat will step down in June 2024 after hosting the last season beginning in September 2023.

After Sajak’s retirement announcement, there’s no revelation of a host successor yet. This left James, who took $500,000 home after winning ‘Jeopardy! Masters’ open to taking the opportunity to add his own unique perspective when he quote-tweeted the announcement. Shortly after Sajak’s tweet, James responded with a tweet featuring an image of Mike Richards, the former ‘Jeopardy!’ host, superimposed onto a meme depicting someone hiding behind a tree and rubbing their hands together mischievously. Mike was originally named as the first official replacement for Alex, who died in 2020, but unfortunately, didn’t work out.
