LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star Teddi Mellencamp recently took to her Instagram to speak out against being body-shaming after she revealed that she has undergone plastic surgery.

The post contained two photos of Mellencamp from ages 18 and 42. She started the post by asking, "Does the girl on the left really look that much different than the girl on the right?"

"We have gotten to a place where social media has become obsessed with speculating and commenting on people’s looks and bodies," Mellencamp remarked, emphasizing the adverse impact that negative criticism can have on one's mental health.

Mellencamp maintained that she had always been open about getting a neck lift, breast implants, and resorting to Botox to maintain her youth.

Mellencamp clarified, "I have been open with what I’ve had done- Botox, neck lift, breast implants, hair colored, makeup and good lighting, etc. - but that doesn’t give anybody the right to send comments of judgment, harsh negativity or flat-out lies."

She also added, "Have I learned to deal with the criticism? Yes. However, you never know what your words can do to somebody’s mental state."

Mellencamp then concluded the post by adding, "So next time you’re typing out a nasty comment/DM, before you hit send, ask yourself, “Would I want somebody saying this to me?" So let’s spread some positivity: Tag someone who could use some kind words and give them a compliment. You never know whose day you can change for the better."
