Spoilers for ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Episode 3

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mickey Haller’s romantic endeavors have seeped into his professional life once again. In the third episode of the second season of Netflix’s ‘The Lincoln Lawyer', Mickey’s love interest Lisa Trammel is charged with the murder of a real estate magnate named Mitchell Bondurant. Mickey, who had just got off from saving Jesus Menendez, is back to the grind with a high-profile case that involves a woman he recently slept with. Lisa asks Mickey to defend him, and Mickey agrees despite a conflict of interest in the case. But when Mickey’s ex-wife Maggie learns about his involvement with Lisa, she isn’t entirely happy.

Mickey helped Maggie in her professional journey by nailing Martha Renteria’s killer in the previous episode and the duo seem to be on good terms with each other. Mickey and Maggie stand together to support their daughter at all times and despite the ugly divorce and their respective dating lives, the former married couple still have a soft corner for each other. As Lisa’s case takes the driver’s seat, the relationship which seemed to have been improving between Maggie and Mickey enters troubled waters.

Is there still a spark left between Maggie and Mickey?

Maggie has enjoyed a successful career in law by herself. There was a time when Mickey was struggling but since Trevor Elliott’s trial, he is the talk of the town while Maggie’s career took a small hit. Mickey often teases Maggie for her dates with Jim and Maggie continuously asks Mickey about his romantic endeavours. At the ranch, when Maggie and Mickey are watching their daughter practice horse riding, a few sparks fly between the two. The thread is continued at a food truck joint that Mickey frequently visits.

Maggie still senses a connection with Mickey and the acclaimed LA Defense attorney smiles at her questions. Even though Maggie doesn’t come forth to express her buried feelings about Mickey, she knows that somewhere down the line, they might just reunite. But toward the end of the episode, Maggie learns that Mickey slept with Lisa and is now representing her in a murder trial. This disturbs Maggie and the brewing romance dies once again.
