Charles “CJ” Donaldson, who was earlier better known as MrBro on his social media is also an American YouTuber. He is best known for being the older brother of MrBeast apart from being known for his YouTube career and social media presence.
Who is CJ Donaldson?
Charles Donaldson aka CJ was born in Georgia, United States. Their family eventually moved to Greenville, North Carolina, where they were raised. Back in 2019, When MrBeast announced the debut of the MrBro channel, which CJ was going to handle, viewers flocked to CJ's channel. On March 17, 2019, MrBeast asked his fans on Twitter if his older brother should make a YouTube channel. And after getting several positive responses, he announced that CJ was launching his channel. He wrote on Twitter, "My brother launches his channel next week! He has some massive videos coming up and i'm very proud of him. Go Subscribe! (he is going to be dropping some bangers)"
On August 28, 2019, CJ uploaded his debut video. The videos CJ makes resemble his brother's. Even the equipment and staff to work on CJ's content were provided by Jimmy.
Why CJ Donaldson changed his name and career?
MrBro, the pseudonym earlier used by CJ, was claimed to have been mimicking his brother's content, as they had similar video styles and thumbnail designs that netizens said were replicated. The older Donaldson started to receive criticism, with some YouTube users calling him and his team “the budget MrBeast team.” CJ eventually decided to take a break from YouTube for six months in October 2020 as a result of the criticism from fans. He last posted a video to his primary channel, now known as CjTheseDays, on June 5, 2021.
The name change is believed to be CJ Donaldson's attempt to break out from his younger brother's shadow on YouTube. He now posts Minecraft videos on his gaming channel, CJTheseGames. He has garnered over 90K subscribers since launching the channel on June 7th, 2022, and his most-watched video has gotten over 160K views. Fans supported the YouTuber since he changed his name from MrBro to CjTheseDays and launched his gaming channel.
