Who is Gary Pagar? DaBaby 'sucker-punched' 65-year-old man amid argument during music video shoot

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: DaBaby is currently dealing with a lawsuit filed by a 65-year-old man who claims to have been assaulted during an unauthorized music video shoot. The rapper is actively pushing for the trial's postponement until the resolution of his own criminal case linked to the same incident.

However, Gary Pagar, the plaintiff who lodged the lawsuit against DaBaby in 2021, is steadfastly advocating for the trial to proceed promptly, without any additional delays, as per court documents obained by Radar Online.

Who is Gary Pagar?

In December 2021, Gary Pagar, 65, alleged that he was physically assaulted by DaBaby while he was attempting to prevent the rapper's entourage from filming a video on his property in Los Angeles.

The incident took place when DaBaby (whose real name is Jonathan Kirk) and his group were leasing a mansion overseen by Pagar, per TMZ. Pagar states that he had been informed that DaBaby and his companions intended to utilize the property solely for vacation-related purposes.

What is the lawsuit against DaBaby?

In his lawsuit, Pagar said he rented his property to the rapper and his friends. The agreement stated that no more than 12 people were allowed on the property.

But later, Pagar found out that the rapper had more than 12 people for a music video shoot. Upon being informed of this, Pagar personally drove to the residence to address the matter.

The homeowner discovered that there were more than 40 people at the property. He confronted DaBaby and insisted that people vacate the premises.

Pagar reportedly got spat on, and DaBaby followed him inside his house. Their argument continued and DaBaby allegedly punched him in the face, making several of his teeth fall out.

The lawsuit claimed that DaBaby cautioned Pagar against contacting the police. However, Pagar went ahead and called 911, although the rapper left before the authorities arrived.

The legal complaint accused DaBaby and his group of causing damage to the property, resulting in substantial repair costs amounting to thousands of dollars for Pagar. The lawsuit seeks unspecified compensation for damages.

Additionally, Pagar disclosed that both a real estate agent and an eyewitness named Patrick Michael provided testimony affirming that they saw DaBaby assault Pagar on the day of the incident.

Michael testified that the rapper had "sucker-punched" the homeowner. As of now, a judge has not yet reached a decision on the matter.

What did DaBaby say about music video shoot assault charges?

In 2022, the rapper posted a video clip showing Pagar shouting and using racial slurs towards the guests, per the Independent.

The video started with the message, "On today’s episode of 'Let’s make DaBaby look like a bad person.'" It showed Pagar screaming and shouting, "You f***ing n******. F***ing a**holes... I’m telling you how I feel."

In the video, the rapper also alleged that Pagar was a "white supremacist who lied to TMZ and the LAPD." DaBaby captioned the post, "Look what somebody just sent me. Y’all keep believing these Hollywood hustlers. Y’all might as well get a rope help em hang our black a** on a tree! Ima leave y’all wit that, big day in Vegas today."

How many times has DaBaby been arrested?

DaBaby has been involved in multiple incidents, including a shooting, and has faced several arrests throughout his life. These arrests have been linked to various charges such as driving with a fake license, drug possession, and illegal firearm possession.

One notable incident was a fatal shooting that occurred at a Walmart in 2018, resulting in the death of one person, per Complex. The rapper received a sentence of one year of unsupervised probation and 30 days of jail time following a conviction for concealed weapon possession.
