Rymir Satterthwaite: Man claiming to be Jay-Z's son accuses rapper of evading paternity test for 10 years

Rymir Satterthwaite, a 30-year-old man who claims to be the illegitimate son of Jay-Z has accused him of abusing the legal system for over 10 years in order to avoid taking a paternity test. It has been nearly a decade that Rymir has been fighting to prove Jay-Z is his biological father.

Rymir who is from New Jersey has now decided to take the fight to Supreme Court to force the world-famous rapper to take a DNA test. Rymir has decided to stop at nothing until justice is served in his favor.

'This is not going to be over until justice is served'

"This is not going to be over until justice is served," Rymir says as per Daily Mail. "I just want to live my life and, when it is all said and done, I hope that Jay-Z would want to be a part of my life if that is God's will." He adds, "I won't stop fighting for this until I win. And I will win because the law is on our side."

Jay-Z's attorney told the outlet that Rymir's claims have been previously reviewed by the court and have been rejected. "The allegations have been previously reviewed thoroughly by the courts and have been refuted. I am sure that will be the outcome of whatever filings Satterthwaite may be currently considering."

Fresh motion at New Jersey Superior Court

In February of this year, Rymir submitted a fresh motion to the New Jersey Supreme Court. It requested court unseal documents dating back to 2012. The motion which detailed the case in the 29-page document, however, was rejected due to jurisdiction law. Rymir then re-filed it in the New Jersey Superior Court Appellate Division, which is considering the matter.

Rymir's legal struggle with Jay-Z began in 1992 when Rymir's late mother, Wanda, stated that she had a sexual encounter with the rapper in addition to a tumultuous relationship with her high school lover. At the time Wanda was 16 and Jay-Z was 22 and yet to become a global sensation. The relationship concluded in July 1993 when Rymir was born.

Rymir had no resemblance to Robert Graves

This partly explains why Rymir's biological father was named after Wanda's high school sweetheart, Robert Graves, who was present at Rymir's birth along with Wanda's reconciled partner. However, family insiders claim Wanda always knew Rymir wasn't Graves' biological son as he bore no resemblance to him. When Rymir turned 8, Wanda revealed to him that Jay-Z was his father. In 2010, Wanda's health declined and the paternity question turned into a legal dispute, with Wanda insisting that only two men—Michael, an old high school lover, and Jay-Z—had sexual relations with her before Rymir's conception.

A DNA test confirmed Robert was not his father

In order to determine who the true parent was, she asked a Pennsylvania court to order a paternity test that would include DNA evidence from both partners. Robert consented voluntarily to take part in DNA testing as required by a court order. This provided undeniable proof that he and Rymir were not related genetically. Following this Robert's name was removed from Rymir's birth certificate by the court and has remained blank ever since.

In 2011 Wanda handed over the custody of Rymir to her godmother Lillie Coley, who vowed to carry on the fight to prove the identity of Rymir's father once and for all, telling the outlet, "I was just trying to help my goddaughter's child have a relationship with his father. It was so hard on him because he was ripped away from his mom and had no one to call dad."

The legal battle

Lillie requested that Jay-Z submit to DNA testing in New Jersey, where he and Rymir were based, in the same year she spoke with Lise Fisher, the rapper's legal representative. Rymir and Lillie claim that despite complying with the request, they never heard back from Jay-Z's legal counsel regarding the outcomes of any DNA testing.

In 2012, Lillie and Rymir started suing Jay-Z. Since then, the two have engaged in an ongoing legal battle with the rapper that has lasted more than ten years. The 30-year-old believes that during that period, Jay-Z's legal team has made numerous attempts to thwart the legal process in order to avoid taking a paternity test, which the 30-year-old claims would definitively put an end to the case.
