I'm a Celebrity viewers fear consequences of Jamie Lynn Spears' departure
I'm a Celebrity viewers fear consequences of Jamie Lynn Spears' departure
Jamie Lynn Spears has left I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on medical grounds, a show spokesperson said. In a statement from the show it said: “Jamie Lynn Spears has left I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on medical grounds. She’s been a fantastic campmate who has triumphed at trials and bonded well with her fellow celebrities.” Spears, the sister of pop icon Britney Spears, had struggled since the beginning of the show, emotionally complaining about the lack of food on offer to the stars and also saying that she was missing her children. During Tuesday's episode, she told the Bush Telegraph: "I don’t get it... this is not okay, I wanna go home. I do not want to be here.” The 32-year-old added: " I quit, I don’t wanna do it. I do not wanna be there. I went to tell them [the producers] this is not fair. I quit. I don’t wanna do it, I don’t wanna be here, that’s so unfair that was torture. F*** this.” She becomes the second celebrity to leave the show following food critic Grace Dent who also left earlier this week on medical grounds. YouTuber Nella Rose was also treated by a medic but has since rejoined the camp. Fans of the show are now left fearing the consequences of Spears's departure from the show. This now leaves just 10 contestants left with many thinking that Nigel Farage could win if he manages to stick it out, while the rest of the campmates all drop out for various reasons. One person said: "At this rate the winner will be decided by them being the only one not to leave on medical grounds." Another added: "At this rate Nigel Farage only needs to stay ‘healthy’ in order to win!" A third wrote: "Has Nigel Farage decided the only way he can win is if he bumps off all the other contestants?" A fourth said: "At this rate maybe Nigel Farage will win by default." The remaining contestants are Nigel Farage, Danielle Harold, Fred Sirieix, Josie Gibson, Marvin Humes, Nella Rose, Nick Packard, Sam Thompson and Tony Bellew. Additional reporting by PA.

Nigel Farage and Nella Rose clash over cultural appropriation on I'm A Celeb
Nigel Farage and Nella Rose clash over cultural appropriation on I'm A Celeb
Nella Rose and Nigel Farage appeared to butt heads during last night's I'm A Celebrity (28 November), when the YouTuber attempted to school the former UKIP leader on cultural appropriation. The discussion came about after Nella spotted Fred Sirieix' pronunciation of 'water', and Fargae chimed in to say you "can't win" when it comes to what you can and can't say. "You go to a fancy dress party, dressed as something, and now the press will say it’s cultural appropriation", he continued. Nella responded: "Well yeah because you can’t use somebody’s culture as a fancy dress." Sign up to our new free Indy100 weekly newsletter

I'm a Celebrity viewers want Nella Rose voted off first following Fred Sirieix clash
I'm a Celebrity viewers want Nella Rose voted off first following Fred Sirieix clash
A growing number of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! viewers are plotting to vote out Nella Rose on social media following a clash with Fred Sirieix. Tuesday’s (November 21) episode saw YouTuber Nella, 26, argue with the First Dates star over a comment he made about their respective ages. Fred, 51, made a remark about her being old enough to be Nella’s dad. While the comment appeared to be completely offhand, Nella took issue as the pair had a heart-to-heart early on in the competition about her dad passing away. As a result, she spoke in the Bush Telegraph and said: "I didn't say anything about it last night because I was kind of just annoyed about it. So I slept on it and I kind of thought about it, and I was just like, this is not the kind of person I want to be around." After Nella ignored him, Fred asked her what was wrong. She said: "You know that my mum's dead, and you know that my dad's dead. You know that, right? I've come to find out that every time I wanna get creative around the fire, or I want to have something my way, my own food that I am entitled to, my way, you tend to get an attitude, right? "So yesterday, when I wanted to burn fat that you were going to throw away anyways. It's not even something that we needed to survive in camp. You turned around to me, with an attitude and said: 'You know I could be your dad, right?' To me, I don't care how you said it to me, it's disrespectful, and I don't want to talk to you. I don't want to be around you. I only allow people to disrespect me once." Nella added: "You hurt my feelings. I was very upset. You keep trying to speak to me when I don't want to speak to you. I would rather stay away from you. I don't want to eat your food, I don't want to talk to you. We can just live. You live on that side, I live on this side." Fred apologised by saying: "I am so sorry. Can I just say? First of all, I am sorry I've offended you. I am unaware that you felt offended. I am unaware that what I said would lead to this conversation, I only said that in a way because I am older than you. I am 51, and you're 26." He added: "Either I made a mistake and I said something and I offended you. I'm really sorry. I'm really sorry you feel like this.” She didn’t seem to want to resolve the situation after his apology, saying: “You only get one chance to disrespect me. I accept your apology, but let's not be friends. How about that?" Now, people on social media have voiced their feelings on Nella, claiming that she 'overreacted' to the situation and pledging to vote her out of the show. The six most controversial I'm a Celebrity recruits as Farage joins jungle
The six most controversial I'm a Celebrity recruits as Farage joins jungle
Nigel Farage’s appearance on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here this year has been hotly anticipated, with the divisive Brexiter reported to be earning a whopping £1.5m to go on the show. However Farage, 59, is only the most controversial contestant to enter the jungle since, well, last year’s edition of the show. Producers of the hit ITV series, which entered its 23rd edition last night, have made quite the habit of getting contentious names to do Bushtucker trials. Here are the six most controversial. Matt Hancock Matt Hancock resigned as health secretary in disgrace in 2021, after it emerged he had broken his own Covid-19 lockdown guidance by kissing his aide, Gina Coladangelo, at work. Eighteen months later, the man who regularly appeared on our lockdown TV screens telling us to “stay at home” was back on the telly, doing I’m A Celebrity. His appearance in the jungle caused quite a stir, with campmates grilling him over his response to the pandemic. He also sparked hundreds of Ofcom complaints during his 30 days in the jungle. Whether it was a success or a failure is debatable. Hancock came third, earning a reported £320,000 for his stint on the reality show. However, he also lost his place in the Tory party, and drew criticism from the Prime Minister and MPs across the political spectrum. Gemma Collins It's not just politicians on this list! Gemma Collins, star of The Only Way Is Essex, just couldn’t hack it, and only made it three days in the jungle. At the time the 41-year-old said “jungle life is not for me” and quipped that “people who murder get treated better than this”. Viewers in 2014 were left disappointed after Collins gave them several memorable moments. That included stating the obvious while talking to another campmate about her reasons for leaving. “I’ve found it really difficult,” she told another campmate. “I love myself too much to put myself through this.” Stanley Johnson Remember the days when Boris Johnson was just a bumbling former mayor of London who fronted the Vote Leave campaign? That was when his father, Stanley, went on I’m A Celebrity in 2017, aged 77. Stanley is a former Conservative MEP himself, and was the oldest person ever to go on the show. He sparked a friendship with Georgia “Toff” Toffolo, of Made In Chelsea fame, and made it 18 days into the show. Speaking about his experience last year, Stanley said: “Get your hand up quick – Ant or Dec, I was never able to distinguish between them – they come in and… you’ve got to get your hand up because if you don’t, you miss the chance to eat a bull’s testicle for example.” Gillian McKeith Gillian McKeith was an iconic contestant on I’m A Celebrity, partly because she just kept getting voted in to do Bushtucker trials. The TV personality rarely succeeded in winning any stars and even fainted during one of the trials – but the public were undeterred. Perhaps it was something to do with her pseudoscientific ideas around nutrition, which include the detox diet, colonic irrigation (you don’t want to know), and examining people’s poo to work out their illnesses. It’s also worth pointing out that she has no qualifications in nutrition or medicine, and until 2007 used the title “Doctor” on her TV shows. Since going on the show, she has also been slammed for promoting Covid-19 conspiracy theories and anti-vaccine views. Yikes. Nadine Dorries Nadine Dorries was the first sitting MP to make it onto I’m A Celebrity in 2012, meaning she has a lot to answer for. She starred alongside boxer David Haye and Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts, but only made it 11 days into the show before getting voted off. However, Nads’ controversy didn’t stop there. She was suspended from the Tory party when she got back to the UK for failing to tell the Conservative chief whip of her plans to appear, and failing to declare the fees she received. She said of Farage’s entry into the jungle: “I think Nigel will do very, very well. “He’s got the chutzpah, he’s got the personality, I think he’ll do very well.” Lembit Opik Liberal Democrat MP-turned-serial reality TV star Lembit Opik was voted off I’m A Celebrity early in its 2010 series. That was not before both he and Shaun Ryder were bitten by a snake during a Bushtucker trial, however. While he wasn’t too popular on the show, he also made it onto celebrity editions of The Apprentice and Come Dine With Me. Some people just love the grift, it seems. Nigel Farage has already escaped I'm a Celebrity Bushtucker trials
Nigel Farage has already escaped I'm a Celebrity Bushtucker trials
TV viewers hoping to put ex-Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage through the wringer in the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle might be in for some disappointment. The right-wing firebrand is part of this year's edition of reality show that places celebrities into the Australian jungle, with Farage taking the (what seems to be) yearly role of the jungle politician in need of image rehabilitation. It was the expectation that Farage would be the public's pick to take on the infamously grueling Bushtucker Trials this year (with a number of online critics noting that success in this trials would soften the public towards him), however there's an issue. The former UKIP leader has already said he's out of the running when it comes to certain trials, due to past injuries. "Well, anything involving weightlifting, I'd be out because I've obviously had some quite serious physical injuries and neck reconstructions and goodness knows what else," said Farage to The Sun. "So they are fully aware that I'm a little bit damaged when it comes to bodily structure. But having said that, I can still do most things." The culprit behind the serious injuries that Farage is alluding to was a bad plane crash back in 2010 that left him with a punctured lung, chipped vertebrae, a fractured sternum, and several fractured ribs - Farage would later state that these injuries stopped him golfing, bar a brief advert for Paddy Power. He's still chipper about doing some of the trials, though. "I doubt that any of the trials are actually going to kill me, although I don't think they'll all be a bag of fun. "I signed up for this. It's in for a penny in for a pound. So let's go." The public will certainly try and get their money's worth with Farage - the highest paid star in I'm A Celeb history- even if he won't end up doing every trial he is nominated for. That's if he isn't voted off first. How to join the indy100's free WhatsApp channel Sign up to our new free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Who is Children in Need presenter Lenny Rush and how did he become a child star?
Lenny Rush, the Bafta-winning child actor, is set to make history as the first child presenter of the BBC’s charity fundraiser for Children in Need on Friday night. Rush, 14, who has a form of dwarfism known as Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia congenita (Harry Potter actor Warwick Davis has the same condition), started off his acting career with a number of appearances in children’s television, including CBeebies series Apple Tree House and CBBC’s Dodger and The Dumping Ground – the latter of which is an expansion of the Tracy Beaker franchise. He's also worked on a few productions by writer Jack Thorne, including on his retelling of A Christmas Carol at London’s Old Vic Theatre and his BBC series Best Interests. Rush is an award winner, too, having won the gong for best male comedy performance in Daisy May Cooper’s Am I Being Unreasonable?. As for future roles, he’s set to appear alongside 15th Doctor and Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa in the next series of Doctor Who, playing the character of Morris once David Tennant’s 60th anniversary specials are out of the way. Speaking of Doctor Who, a special ‘minisode’ of the fantasy series will air during Friday’s TV event, starring Tennant who has returned to the fan favourite programme as the Fourteenth Doctor. Rush will co-present Children in Need alongside sports personalities Ade Adepitan and Alex Scott, and comedians Mel Giedroyc, Jason Manford and Chris Ramsey. The teenager said of the presenting role: “It’s an honour and a thrill to be the first child presenter for Children in Need. I can’t wait to feel the buzz of a live show and to help raise money for children and young people across the UK facing disadvantages. “I’m so excited.” Children in Need will be broadcast live from Salford and gets underway from 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Miriam Margolyes explains the reason she knocked back Strictly and I'm a Celebrity
Miriam Margolyes explains the reason she knocked back Strictly and I'm a Celebrity
Miriam Margolyes is widely considered to be a national treasure, so no doubt fans would love to see her on popular TV shows such as Strictly Come Dancing and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! But you won't catch the Harry Potter actor on those programmes as the famously outspoken Margolyes explains why she has knocked back these opportunities. During an appearance as a guest on Waitrose’s Dish podcast to promote her new memoir Oh Miriam: Stories from an Extraordinary Life, the 82-year-old admitted she agreed to the book because "they offered me a lot of money." "That’s true, that’s absolutely true,” she said. “When you’re old and you know that your earning potential is diminishing, you’ve got to get the money while you can.” Margolyes added: "I won’t do that, what do you call it? The dancing thing..." She was referring to BBC's popular dance show Strictly Come Dancing, and was asked by co-presenter Angela Hartnett if she's ever been asked to join the lineup. "Yeah, they must have been f***ing nuts," Margolyes replied and also revealed that she had been offered to go on I'm a Celebrity as well but similarly turned it down. “And they asked me to go in the jungle,” she said, causing co-host Nick Grimshaw to ask: “Was that a hard no?” “I’ve got class, love,” Margolyes said. “I’m not doing that.” It's not the first time Margolyes has said she's declined to go into the Australian jungle, as she shared her candid views on The Graham Norton Show. “Are you kidding? I’m not a whore!" she replied bluntly when asked by Norton if she's considered ever going on the ITV show. While Margolyes may not go on these shows, she has made iconic appearances on daytime shows such as This Morning.
