LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour' movie has crossed a milestone, grossing more than $250 million at the global box office, reported Variety. Made on a budget of $15 million and self-produced by Taylor Swift, the film collected $178.2 million domestically and $71.8 million overseas.

The distributor, AMC Theatres, announced on November 27, 2023, that the box office collection made it rank among the Top 20 biggest films of 2023.

'The Eras Tour' movie is undoubtedly one of the most successful concert films ever. The movie's premiere on October 11 at The Grove in Los Angeles was a star-studded event with A-list stars like Beyonce, Adam Sandler, Marren Morris, and Simu Liu. It hit the United States theaters on October 13.

Swift has also announced that the film will be released for streaming on December 13, her birthday.

'Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour' surpasses Tom Crusie and Harrison Ford's releases

According to Variety 'The Eras Tour movie is the 11th-biggest release of 2023 in North America, exceeding the box office collection of Tom Cruises 'Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One ($172 million) and Harrison Ford's 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny' ($174 million).

The trend continued globally, making it the 19th highest-grossing release of 2023 worldwide, beating 'Sound of Freedom' ($248 million) and 'Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves' ($208 million).

Directed by Sam Wrench, the movie is a "cinematic rendering" of Swift's sixth concert tour. It overtook 'Justin Bieber: Never Say Never' ($73 million) on the opening weekend, making it the highest-grossing concert film in domestic box office history.

'Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour' is one of its kind

The movie was notable for many other unconventional methods Swift took.

First, the singer chose AMC Theatres to distribute the movie instead of a major studio. Secondly, the movie played in theaters on Thursdays through Sundays only.

Another unique factor of the film was its relatively higher expense than an average movie. The adult ticket price was $19.89, referring to her birth year and 2014 album.

At the same time, ticket costs for children and seniors were $13.13, a nod to her lucky number.

Fans hail 'The Eras Tour's box-office success

Swifties applauded their pop icon for the movie's commercial success, and some suggested that the box office trend will continue steadily if it is released in countries like China.

One fan stated, "I know thats right!!! Queen Taylor strikes again!"

Another shared a meme that said, "YEP, THAT SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT."

"Imagine the number for the tour itself," said a third user.

A fourth user called Swift, "My honey."

"And it hasn't even opened in China yet," added one user. Another stated, "Coming to +320M with China."
