Arnold Schwarzenegger's $300 shopping spree at Walmart saved film crew from freezing on set

ALBUQUERQUE, MEXICO: Arnold Schwarzenegger is not just an action superstar on the big screen, but also a real-life hero who goes above and beyond for those around him. During the filming of his 2013 movie 'The Last Stand', Schwarzenegger encountered an unexpected problem, the film crew did not have enough winter clothing to battle the cold weather on set. But true to his nature, the 'FUBAR' star took matters into his own hands.

In the middle of the night, Schwarzenegger made a spontaneous decision to visit the local Walmart and buy enough winter clothing for the entire crew. He later shared a photo from the checkout line on Twitter, captioning it, "Albuquerque is getting cold, so I bought some warm clothes for my crew today. Thanks to the employees who helped me!" reported TMZ at the time.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was film crew's knight in shining armor

However, what was intended to be a simple shopping trip turned into a mob scene, with fans and onlookers swarming to catch a glimpse of the legendary action star. Walmart's in-house security team was called in to control the crowd, as Schwarzenegger's popularity and genuine act of kindness drew a massive response. Undeterred by the commotion, the former governor of California purchased a variety of long-sleeved shirts and jackets, spending around $300 in total. His generosity and willingness to go the extra mile for his crew exemplify his character both on and off the screen.

At the time, 'The Last Stand' marked Schwarzenegger's return as the lead action star after a nearly decade-long hiatus. The film follows Sheriff Ray Owens in a sleepy border town in Arizona, who has to stop a drug lord from crossing the border and escaping to Mexico. While the movie may not have received widespread acclaim, it was recognized for its adrenaline-fueled storyline. Moreover, this is not the first time Schwarzenegger has shown his willingness to step up and fix what needs fixing. He recently made headlines for fixing a pothole in his neighborhood in Los Angeles, taking it upon himself to address a problem affecting his community.

'Let’s do something about it!'

On April 11, the 'Terminator' actor posted a video on his social media, which showed him repairing a large pothole that had been causing problems in his neighborhood for several weeks. "Today, after the whole neighborhood has been upset about this giant pothole that’s been screwing up cars and bicycles for weeks, I went out with my team and fixed it. I always say, let’s not complain, let’s do something about it. Here you go," Schwarzenegger wrote in the caption.

Whether it's ensuring the comfort of his film crew during harsh winters or actively working to improve his community, Schwarzenegger continues to be a role model for kindness and action. 'The Last Stand' may not have been a box office blockbuster, but Schwarzenegger's act of kindness made the film hit the headlines, regardless.
