'The Lincoln Lawyer' Season 2 Episode 1: Mickey Haller learns tattooed man's identity as new love interest sparks

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix’s most popular legal drama, 'The Lincoln Lawyer,' is back for a second season to engage us in the life and times of the hotshot Los Angeles defense attorney, Mickey Haller. The first episode of season two, titled 'The Rules of Professional Conduct,' takes off right after the finale of the first season when Mickey proved Jesus Menendez's innocence in the murder of Martha Renteria, while also saving Trevor Elliott from going to prison for the murder of his wife, Laura. Unfortunately, Mickey was tricked by Trevor into believing that he was innocent, which the Lincoln Lawyer completely dreaded. Trevor was shot by one of the lovers of his victim, and Mickey received twisted justice from fate.

The first episode of the second season sees Mickey’s profile as a defense attorney in LA shooting through the roof as his practice starts to receive innumerable clients. Lorna, one of his ex-wives is managing the office while Mickey is riding the wave of success after winning the Trevor Elliott trial. His first case is to pull out a man named Russell Lawson out of jail who has been accused of burglary by the neighbors. Meanwhile, Detective Griggs is reopening Martha Renteria’s murder case which brings Menendez’s innocence back into question. Micky isn’t happy. He believes Jesus is still being framed and the tattooed man who is absconding is the real killer. Fortunately for Mickey, he didn’t have to go out far to catch this tattooed man as he came rushing to him in the form of Russell Lawson, the man who Mickey is currently defending on charges of Burglary.

After rushing out of a photoshoot, Mickey makes a quick stop at the police station where a man named Russell Lawson who is a finance professional is charged with burglary. Russell maintains his innocence before Mickey states that he was drunk and maybe drugged as he did not remember how he ended up in his neighbor’s place. Mickey believes him and starts working to get him out as soon as possible. In the courtroom, he breaks the prosecution’s argument stating that everyone in the club where Russell went was drugged which makes it extremely difficult for his client to break into someone else’s house in the inebriated state. Also, Russell’s house looked similar to his neighbor’s house.

Mickey saves Russell from prison but when he reaches home, he finds Russell sitting on his balcony, grinning and clapping at Mickey’s genius. When Mickey questions him about his abrupt presence, Russell reveals that he’s indeed the tattooed man who killed Martha, the same man that Mickey is looking for and the one who could prove Menendez’s innocence. However, before reaching Mickey’s place, Russell paid a retainer fee to Mickey which now binds him in an attorney-client privilege. Mickey now cannot reveal that Russell is the tattooed man who killed Martha and has no choice but to defend his new client.
