Andrew Tate claims depression is a 'choice', Elon Musk enters debate with resounding response: 'It is a brain chemistry issue'

BUCHAREST, ROMANIA: The notorious influencer Andrew Tate, who proudly identifies as a misogynist, has garnered significant attention on Twitter for his audacious claim that depression is a matter of "choice". This statement sparked a direct response from none other than Elon Musk himself.

Tate, a social media personality known for his controversial views, has often voiced his unorthodox belief that depression is nothing more than an imaginary ailment. He confidently denies the existence of this condition, which has stirred up numerous debates and controversies.

'Depression is a choice'

In a recent tweet that sent shockwaves through social media, the notorious 'Cobra' fearlessly ignited a fierce debate on mental health by putting forth his provocative belief that depression is ultimately a matter of personal "choice". Tate wrote, "Depression is a choice. You CHOOSE."

Tate has been open about his provocative stance on depression even in an interview with Piers Morgan last year. Tate stated, "I believe that feeling depressed is real. I don’t believe that depression as a clinical disease is real."

Tate expressed his perspective on post-traumatic depression, suggesting that individuals could have potentially harnessed their inner strength and channeled their pain towards fighting their adversaries, rather than directing it inward. He questioned why a depressed person squanders so much of their life in such a manner. Tate wrote, "You could have been a superhero. All you needed to do was be stronger post-trauma. Instead, you used the pain on yourself instead of on your enemies. Why have you wasted so much of your life?"

'It is a brain chemistry issue'

Musk, the CEO of Twitter, engaged with users' inquiries and expressed his thoughts on the remarks made by Tate concerning depression and mental health in the Twitter community's discussions. Musk acknowledged that there can be an excessive diagnosis of depression in the United States, but also acknowledged that, in certain cases, it can be attributed to neurological disorders affecting specific individuals.

Musk wrote, "Depression is overdiagnosed in the US, but for some people it really is a brain chemistry issue. But zombifying people with SSRIs for sure happens way too much. From what I’ve seen with friends, ketamine taken occasionally is a better option."

'You’d gaslight the hell out of them'

In response to Tate's viewpoint on depression, numerous users stepped forward to voice their own opinions on the matter. One user wrote, "You’d gaslight the hell out of them. This is not a flex." Tristan Tate, brother of Andrew came forward to support his brother's statements, "Community notes “you can’t make yourself better, please contact your nearest matrix operated pharmacy for some mind altering pills”." A user stated, "It sounds like a 'red pill' and 'blue pill' moment right here!"
