LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rachel Maddow is set to launch her new show on Monday, June 12. The podcast will be called ‘Rachel Maddow Presents: Déjà News,’ and it is a six-episode limited series. The MSNBC podcaster along with longtime producer of Rachel Maddow Show producer Isaac-Davy Aronson, will dive into new stories from the past with notable parallels with the present.
The network revealed that every episode with have a set pattern where it will begin with one of Maddow’s signature monologues establishing the story. It will be followed by Aronson guiding the listener through the history of the story. “[They] will consider the ways in which history repeats itself and allows us to look at some of today’s most perplexing topics through a clearer, more rational lens,” said MSNBC. The new episodes from this six-part series will be out every Monday. Maddow will continue to host MSNBC’s 9 pm hour on Monday evenings and for other breaking news, cut out on her nightly show in 2022.
'I am going to take a little bit of time off'
Maddow made this move to focus on various other projects at NBC Universal, however, can still be seen on the cable news channel’s primetime schedule. Maddow told viewers during her show, “I am going to take a little bit of time off from this show.” She added, "I’m nervous about all this. It’s a change in my life. But it’s all for the good." MSNBC president Rashida Jones confirmed her departure at the time, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The artist sealed the deal with NBC Universal in 2021, which further expanded Maddow’s purview into podcasts, films, and other related content for the organization’s multiple platforms. The popular podcaster has proved her mettle in the past, as her first two shows were top of the podcast charts and were turned into feature adaptations.
'‘Dateline’ podcasts continue to top the list frequently'
‘Rachel Maddow Presents: Bag Man,’ was her first podcast based on the downfall of Vice President Spiro Agnew. It inspired a best-selling book and a feature film has been announced as well which will be directed by Ben Stiller. Middow’s second podcast, ‘Rachel Maddow Presents: Ultra’ explored American democracy and spread Nazi propaganda 80 years from now. The podcast was appreciated by critics and even Steven Spielberg's Amblin picked it as a probable feature film adaptation. Talking about NBC Universal, the banner’s ‘Dateline’ podcasts continue to feature among the most popular creative works in the country.
