How many times has G Herbo been arrested? Rapper booked in Chicago for illegal gun possession

RIVER NORTH, CHICAGO: American rapper G Herbo has found himself in trouble with the law once again. The 27-year-old artist was arrested in Chicago for the illegal possession of a Glock firearm on Sunday, July 9.

Herbo, whose real name is Herbert Randall Wright III, was booked for misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon in a public place. However, the 'Kill S**t' rapper was not charged for the 300 grams of cannabis found in his vehicle.

G Herbo arrested during traffic stop

Sources from the Chicago Police Department said G Herbo was pulled over during a traffic stop near North Wabash Avenue and East Ontario Street around 5:45 pm. Officers observed a Cadillac Escalade with Montana license plates make a turn without signaling, prompting them to take action. As they approached the vehicle, the officers noticed the 'PTSD' singer sitting in the back seat and "making movements with his hands towards the front center console," reported TMZ.

It was during this encounter that the weapon was discovered. Two other individuals present in the SUV, including the driver, were also charged with illegal gun possession. Additionally, a third person was booked with two counts of felony for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and manufacture or delivery of cannabis.

How many times has G Herbo been arrested?

In February 2018, G Herbo and two others were arrested for illegal firearm possession after their limousine driver reported the incident. In 2019, the 'Pull Up' rapper pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon and received a two-year probation sentence.

In April 2019, he was arrested for simple battery following allegations of physical abuse made by the mother of his first child, Ariana Fletcher. He was released on a $2,000 bond a week later, and Herbo shared his side of the story on Instagram, stating that he went to retrieve stolen jewelry upon Fletcher's request.

Moreover, in December 2020, G Herbo, along with several others, faced 14 federal charges including wire fraud and identity theft and conspiracy to commit wire fraud, spanning a four-year period starting in 2016. The rapper and the others were accused of a fraud scheme that involved private jet companies, commercial airlines, vacation rental businesses, hotels, security companies and limousine services. Despite the charges, the rapper has maintained his innocence.

G Herbo tries to make a difference

Outside of his legal troubles, Herbo has made efforts to contribute positively to the community. He played a role in the redevelopment of the Anthony Overton Elementary School and initiated programs such as Swervin' Through Stress, which provides mental health resources to Black youth. He is currently engaged to Taina Williams. The couple had a child in May 2021.

Following his recent arrest, Herbo was released on a $500 bond. He will be required to appear in court in the future, and Judge David Kelly ordered him to "refrain from carrying a gun." This arrest comes amidst ongoing legal issues, including a $1.5M fraud case from December 2020, which may be resolved through a potential plea deal. In the event that Herbo agrees to a plea deal, the aggravated identity theft charges, which typically carry a mandatory minimum sentence of two years, may be dismissed.
