Who is Lachlan Murdoch’s wife? Son of Rupert Murdoch takes command of his media empire

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Sarah Murdoch, wife of Lachlan Murdoch who is the new head of Fox and News Corp, is an actress and a television presenter.

Born as Sarah O’Hare on May 31, 1972, the British-Australian supermodel is also the ambassador of the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.

Sarah and Lachlan, who tied the knot in 1999, share three children, two sons Kalan Alexander and Aidan Patrick, and a daughter names Aerin Elisabeth Murdoch.

Who is Lachlan Murdoch?

Lachlan, who hails from London and earned his degree from Princeton, is one of three children media mogul Rupert had with his second wife, Anna Torv.

Raised in the United States from the age of three, he has primarily resided in Australia during his adult years.

Following his father's departure from the media empire, Lachlan is set to assume the role of chairman of both Fox and News Corp, years after he co-chaired the company.

On Thursday morning, September 21, Lachlan addressed his father's departure and stated, "On behalf of the Fox and News Corp boards of directors, leadership teams, and all the shareholders who have benefited from his hard work, I congratulate my father on his remarkable 70-year career."

"We thank him for his vision, his pioneering spirit, his steadfast determination, and the enduring legacy he leaves to the companies he founded and countless people he has impacted," he continued, reports CNN.

Over time, Lachlan's brother, James, and sister, Elisabeth, and brother, James, were also considered as potential contenders for the top role within the organization.

When will Rupert Murdoch become chairman emeritus?

The company confirmed in a press release that Rupert will maintain his presence on the boards as chairman emeritus and the transition will take place in November.

The media mogul, who assured employees that he is in "robust health," shared that he would still be involved every day in the contest of ideas in his new role as chairman emeritus.

Ending a seven-decade career, the 92-year-old's announcement of stepping down from his role was done in a note to staff of Murdoch-controlled Wall Street Journal.

"For my entire professional life, I have been engaged daily with news and ideas, and that will not change. But the time is right for me to take on different roles," read the statement.

In his memo, Rupert talked to his staffers about his son taking over the role. He said, "My father firmly believed in freedom, and Lachlan is absolutely committed to the cause."
