Does Joe Rogan charge celebs to appear on 'JRE' podcast? UFC fighter Jake Shields reveals insane amount he paid after 'discount'

AUSTIN, TEXAS: Joe Rogan's 'The Joe Rogan Experience' has routinely topped Spotify's charts as the world's number one podcast. Over time, the podcast has become a sought-after forum for individuals from many walks of life, including those involved in the sport of MMA.

The question is whether Rogan's guests pay him to appear on his 'JRE' show. UFC fighter Jake Shields stated on Twitter that he paid an insane amount for an appearance on Rogan's talk show and thought he got a discount.

'I got friends and family discount'

UFC fighters have long been involved with the broadcast, with Rogan serving as a color commentator for the organization. UFC middleweight Paulo Costa, who appears to have mastered the Twitter game recently, joked about Rogan charging his podcast guests money. Costa penned, "How much is joe rogan currently charging to go on the podcast?"

Former UFC fighter Shields played on with Costa's joke, claiming to have paid $350k after discounts for his appearance on the 'JRE' podcast. The former Strikeforce middleweight champ replied, "I paid $350k but I think I got the friends and family discount."

'Recipe of the juice will be enough'

Meanwhile, many fans joked about Rogan demanding the recipe for Costa's Secret Juice in exchange for a slot on the 'JRE' podcast. A user claimed, "I’m sure he would have you on for the secret juice and recipe." Another user commented, "The recipe of the juice will be enough."

Costa, on the other hand, is adamant about keeping his secret, even if it means appearing on Ariel Helwani's 'The MMA Hour'. He wrote, "No thanks. Not even @arielhelwali"

Former 'JRE' guest and Penn State professor Jonathan Zimmerman previously reported that podcast guests are not compensated. Rogan does, however, occasionally provide accommodations for podcast guests, including flights and hotel rooms. The actual payoff for 'JRE' podcast guests is exposure to Rogan's large following.
