'Umbrella Academy' Season 4: Netflix teases what to expect from show as fans await 'final timeline'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix's popular series, ‘The Umbrella Academy’, is coming to an end with its third season.

Many fans expected to get a glimpse of what's in store during this week's ‘Geeked Week’ showcase, but it seems like Netflix has other plans.

While the show's main cast members are thrilled about the new directions their characters will take in season four, it's not entirely clear what lies ahead for the Hargreeves siblings, who have now been trapped in an alternate timeline after the season three finale.

However, we can expect to see new villains in the upcoming season. It will be interesting to see if the show continues to draw inspiration from the recent ‘Umbrella Academy’ comics.

The final season of 'The Umbrella Academy' will be released on Netflix in 2024.

Brief recap of events of ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 finale

The third season of 'The Umbrella Academy' is full of shocking moments, but the finale is particularly mind-blowing.

With multiple timelines, incredible superpowers, and unexpected plot twists, season 3 begins with the Umbrella Academy siblings facing off against the Sparrow Academy, a group of super-powered individuals also adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves after 43 babies were born across the world on October 1, 1989.

In this timeline, Reginald adopted a different set of children, with Ben being the only member in both groups.

Most of the action takes place in Hotel Obsidian, where the original Hargreeves siblings stay after finding themselves in a timeline where they don't exist.

They discover a strange tunnel that turns out to be a portal leading to Hotel Oblivion, a mirror image of Obsidian that Reginald had built to conceal the portal.

The portal is guarded by supernatural and deadly warriors, and as the third season comes to an end, the Umbrella and Sparrow Academy must work together to fight the guardians and gain access to the portal.

The remaining squad investigates Hotel Oblivion

After leaving Klaus on the other side of the tunnel, Reginald departs and the remaining members of the Sparrow and Umbrella Academies continue their exploration of Hotel Oblivion.

Five, Viktor, Allison, Diego, Lila, Sloane, and Ben manage to make it through to the flipped White Buffalo suite, with Sir Reginald joining them.

He declares that the place is both a test, a trap, and a means of salvation all at once.

Reginald informs the group that they must locate the sigil, which is hidden inside Hotel Oblivion, in order to reset the universe through a machine.

The Sparrows and Umbrellas divide into groups and search different floors of the hotel, but they soon realize that the building is playing tricks on them.

Klaus and Luther find themselves in afterlife

Klaus and Luther find themselves in the afterlife together. Luther had been murdered and Klaus had committed suicide at the end of episode 9.

Luther tries to convince Klaus to return and save the rest of their family, but his efforts prove futile.

It is revealed that there is no pain in the afterlife when Luther punches Klaus to persuade him.

The two travel through various locations, with Klaus expressing his disbelief at the afterlife.

His comment, "This is someone's idea of heaven?" could be a significant clue about where one of the characters ends up.

The guardians attack after Klaus returns from the dead

Klaus is brought back to life only to be killed by Reginald again.

Reginald rings the bell in the lobby, summoning the hotel's guardians who proceed to attack his children.

Allison tells Viktor that she is working with Reginald and made a deal with him to return to their original timeline.

However, she insists that she had no idea Reginald would kill Luther.

Meanwhile, Ben, Five, and Sloane work together to defeat one of the guardians, while Lila mimics Viktor's powers to destroy another.

The final guardian injures the entire group when it jumps through the ceiling of the lobby and attacks them.

During their fight with the final guardian, Sloane is saved by Luther, but it's later revealed that he's just a ghost summoned by Klaus.

Ghost Luther reprimands his father for leaving him on the moon for so long, and then killing him.

Reginald reveals that Luther was guarding something precious during his mission on the moon, which will be explained later.

Klaus is unable to hold the apparition any longer, and Luther vanishes when he is wounded.

Reginald exploits his children and reveals his scheme

In order to find the sigil, Five goes to the hotel lobby and discovers that it is on the floor.

The sigil has seven stars and Reginald tells seven of the Hargreeves children to stand on the markers.

Allison is stopped from standing on a star, which seems to be part of a deal they made.

Diego, Lila, Five, Viktor, Sloane, Ben, and Klaus stand on the sigil, and this activates a giant machine that kills the remaining guardian.

The machine starts extracting energy from those standing on the sigil.

When Allison confronts Reginald about hurting the others, he explains that the particles inside their bodies are the only things that fuel the machine.

As for what the machine is, Reginald reveals that they are actually stuck inside a machine in another dimension, and the hotel is just a façade.

He claims that whoever created the universe built this place. Reginald justifies the fact that "he's killing them," as he tells Allison, "Everything in life has a price."

Allison ends up in... heaven?

Allison desperately tries to stop her father, Reginald, from activating the machine, but her persuasion doesn’t work.

In a moment of desperation, she picks up a sickle and strikes her father, revealing his inhuman anatomy as he falls to the ground.

The seven Sparrow and Umbrella teammates are freed from the machine's grip, and a red button appears on the screen.

Despite her family's pleas, Allison presses the button and in the next scene, Allison arrives at her old house in Los Angeles by taxi and lets herself in with a spare key.

She goes upstairs and wakes up her daughter Claire, seemingly indicating that she has returned to the original timeline.

Allison expresses her happiness to be home, and her husband Ray from the 1960s appears in the doorway.

He tells Allison that it's where she was always meant to be, which raises questions because Ray is not Claire's father.

It is possible that Allison rescued Ray from a past where he was meant to die and convinced him to return to 2019 with her.

This would allow her to be reunited with her daughter, and with the man she loves. However, it's also possible that Allison is dead, and this is her version of heaven.

Klaus suggests earlier in the episode that heaven looks different for everyone, and Allison has made it clear that her life is incomplete without Claire and Ray.

Internet reacts to Season 4 sneak peek

The ending of Season 3 of ‘Umbrella Academy’ leaves many unanswered questions, and only in the upcoming season will we fans get to know what truly happened to Allison.

But in the meanwhile, speculations are running rife across the web as fans cannot wait for 2024 to come soon enough.
